Please await up to 20 A-10Cs for stopover at Lajes Field, Azores, enroute to Afghanistan.
According to U.S. news media sources, an Air National Guard "Rainbow Team" of the 184th Fighter Squadron, 188th Fighter Wing (Arkansas Air National Guard), Fort Smith Regional Airport, Fort Smith, Arkansas (tailcode FS), and of the 104th Fighter Squadron, 175th Wing (Maryland Air National Guard), Martin State Airport Air Guard Station, Baltimore, Maryland (tailcode MD), will share this upcoming four-month deployment. Each unit will contribute 10 aircraft to the mission, 5NEWS/KFSM-TV reported. The 175th Wing will have the majority of the people over there for the first sixty days, then the 188th Fighter Wing will have the majority of the people over there for the second sixty days, 188th Fighter Wing commander Colonel Thomas I. "Tom" Anderson said. This ANG "Rainbow Team" will replace the 354th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron after their six-month OEF combat deployment to Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan.

Hi, good afternoon,
Six A-10s as Mazda 41 flight are now enroute to Lajes, with their supporting KC-10 Gold 81.
The second cell, Mazda 51 just returned to Martin State as there was a problem with one of the tankers.
Hope this helps,
RH.

Hi Rene,
Mazda47 was spare and returned. Gold81/82 were tankers.
Mazda51-54 were indeed cancelled. Gold91 was a no-go.

Thanks for your helpful replies, guys! Meanwhile, I asked my Portuguese Warthog News contributors for related Lajes shots. And so I hope, we will get again all serial numbers of deployed aircraft.

Re: Lajes (Azores) (LPLA/TER) - 2010 MIL
According to Warthog News contributor Fábio Pinheiro from Portugal, six A-10Cs landed at Lajes Field, Azores, January 6, 2009, around 16:30 GMT. I'm hopeful to get some stopover pics for first-hand aircraft identification.
I would be very grateful for any further deployment info like from Dutchmil and Oscar01.

Hi,
Yesterday, TABOR47-49 3x LN F-15 flew to Lajes for barrier tests. Tanker was Clean97, out of Mildenhall.
Today, Tabor47-48 returned (not sure if yesterday 1 was a spare, or 1 stayed at Lajes today), also Clean97 returned home.
Cheers,
Oz

If this second cell respected their first ETD (07:00) their would be pictures of it, since me and my friend left to the airport at 6:30! They decided to leave earlier, so no pics on this second cellDutchmil wrote:Hi,

Re: Lajes (Azores) (LPLA/TER) - 2010 MIL
Special thanks for your first public log of the new A-10C ANG "Rainbow Team" aircraft package, en route to Afghanistan, George! That really helps.
Questions: Were "The Hogs, flight of six" the first cell? And were "The Hogs, flight of five" the second cell? (You are sure there were really only five jets within this cell?)
Unfortunately, none of my Warthog News contributors from Portugal took related stopover pictures at Lajes Field, Azores.
For my latest Warthog News update please check: http://warthognews.blogspot.com/2010/01 ... inbow.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I would be very grateful to get any more related info.
Kind Regards
