Hogs to deploy
Hi,
12 Hogs will deploy tomorrow. They were scheduled for yesterday and also for today, but weather at first destination prevented them to launch.
Of course if wx is bad, they might delay again.
Regards,
Oz

deployment to afghanistan???
are these all "SP" coded??
are these all "SP" coded??
Re: Hogs to deploy
If Oscar01 is right, this should be an unexpected Operation Enduring Freedom combat deployment to Afghanistan. I'm surprised, because in January 2010 (after a six-month rotation) 12 AC-10Cs of the 354th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron at Kandahar Airfield - deployed from the 355th Fighter Wing (ACC), Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona - were replaced by A-10Cs of an Air National Guard "Rainbow Team", consisting of jets from the 104th Fighter Squadron, 175th Wing (Maryland Air National Guard), Martin State AP Air Guard Station, Baltimore, Maryland (tailcode MD) and from the 184th Fighter Squadron, 188th Fighter Wing (Arkansas Air National Guard), Fort Smith Regional Airport, Fort Smith, Arkansas (tailcode FS) - scheduled for a four-month rotation.
Could be that Air Combat Command (ACC) will deploy a second A-10C EFS to Kandahar Airfield in support of a force-buildup in Afghanistan, announced by President Obama.
BTW: Stopovers from Spang en route A'stan would be Sigonella, Sicily, and Al Udeid AB, Qatar.
I would be very grateful for any more related info.

Re: Hogs to deploy
It is *not* an AEF deployment.
They depart for Lajes and then further to US.

These are not the A-10s. They are as I posted before TABOR31-36 and 41-46.Thijs wrote:81 flt gave their tail no's on Boom 283.050 @ 1044 app. 81/86-193,

Thanks for pointing out Rob

Re: Hogs to deploy
Hi,
Of topic: indeed those were the F-15s: Huron71-74 (2 rtb), 81-84, 91-94.
Back to the hogs, serials will hopefully follow tonight (if they are readable from pics).
Cheers,
Oz

Re: Hogs to deploy
Support (not tanker support)for this deployment was probably KC-10A 83-0079 from 305th AMW.
It departed Spang after the A-10's take off and also headed out for Lajes.
Also noted were:
70-0462 167th AS WV ANG
70-0465 155th AS TN ANG
87-0027 436th AW
06-6168 436th AW arr as Rch176
Also some A-10s/F-16's were noted but two with a big ??
A-10A 647/SP noted inside hangar with 647 on the nose, fy 78 or 82 ? did not know they had a '647' fly with 81st FS
F-16C 90-0820/SP, is this a new one for 22nd FS or just a misread with 90-0828?? Was hard to ID, paint was very blurred...
Grtz
