On 4 July 2025, ATR and Air Algérie signed an order agreement for new ATRs. The deal is for sixteen ATR72-600s, which are scheduled to be delivered between 2026 and 2028.
The new ATRs will be placed at the airline's new subsidiary called Domestic Airlines, which is part of Algeria's effort to enhance domestic connectivity. Last month, it was also announced that Tassili Airlines is going to be absorbed into Air Algérie as part of the same plan of the government.
Air Algérie isn't a new customer for ATR as it's currently operating twelve ATR72-500s and three ATR72-600s, which were ordered in 2008 and 2014.
