Airbus launches A350F

The board of Airbus has given the green light for the freighter variant of the A350. The new version should be ready to enter commercial service in 2025. The news was announced during Airbus' first half of year results briefing on 29 July.

According to Airbus' CEO the new A350F will be mainly based on the A350-1000 and have a 90 tonnes plus payload capacity. Although full specifications and details were not given, it was mentioned that the freighter will be build on the current A350 assembly line in Toulouse.

At this moment no orders have been placed but the CEO said that the manufacturer is in active discussions with multiple customers and that the board wouldn't signed-off on it if there wasn't any clear interest.

Airbus has been floating a prospective A350F since early this year and potential interested customers have been rumoured to be Cargolux, FedEx, Qatar Airways and UPS.
