Airbus unveils CityAirbus NextGen

During its Airbus 2021 summit, Airbus has unveiled its CityAirbus NextGen as its vehicle to enter the emerging eVTOL market. The new aircraft will be produced by Airbus Helicopters and will feature fixed wings, a V-shaped tail and eight electrically powered propellors. It will be able to carry four passengers on a CO2-emission free flight. The CityAirbus will be able to fly a distance of 80 km and can fly up to 120 km/hr.

Over the years, Airbus has conducted flight tests with its current CityAirbus and Vahana demonstrators and also conducted many windtunnel tests to come up with the best design for the CityAirbus NextGen. The manufacturer expects to have the first prototype in the air in 2023 and certification and deliveries to customers in 2025.
