Akasa Air welcomes 1st aircraft

On 21 June, Akasa Air welcomed its first aircraft with a special ceremony at New Delhi-Indira Gandhi International Airport. The B737-8 is registered VT-YAA (62871) and was ferried to India from Seattle-Boeing Field (WA) via stops in Reykjavik and Larnaca. The start-up airline will use the aircraft to conduct certification flights, which is the last step to obtain it's Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) and then launch operations.

In total, Akasa Air has ordered 72 B737MAXs, consisting of B737-8s and B737-8200s, although the exact breakdown of the two MAX-types is not known.
