Arajet launches and orders B737MAXs

On 14 March, Arajet launched its operations and at the same time announced it has placed an order with Boeing for twenty B737-8200s, with options on another twenty. The order was placed in January and has been booked for an undisclosed customer.

Arajet is the new national carrier of the Dominican Republic and has taken delivery of its first aircraft on 3 March, a B737-8 registered HI1026 (60195). A second one is due shortly. Both MAXs are leased until its own aircraft will arrive.

The new airline has secured traffic rights from the Dominican Republic to Aruba, Canada, Cuba, Colombia, Costa Rica, Curacao, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, Trinidad & Tobago and the US.
