Avianca expanding cargo-fleet

Avianca is planning to expand its cargo fleet and has secured two deals to make this happen. First, the airline has signed a wet-lease agreement with GlobalX, in which the US-company will operate up to five A321P2F-aircraft for the carrier from Colombia. The deal is the first for GlobalX, which plans to operate 20 passenger-to-freighter (P2F) converted Airbus A321s in the coming years. The wet-leases of the A321P2Fs marks the first dedicated narrowbody-freighter operations for Avianca.

Avianca also signed a lease-agreement with CDB Aviation for the lease of up to four A330-300P2Fs. As Avianca is not operating cargo-aircraft on its own Air Operator's Certificate (AOC), it's expected that these will be operated by subsidiary TAMPA Cargo like its current fleet of six A330-200Fs.
