The board of Biman Bangladesh Airlines has approved that the airline's management team begins final negotiations to order up to fourteen new Boeing-aircraft. The deal is said to be for four B737-8s, two B787-9s, and eight B787-10s. It also involves a partnership with Boeing to support the modernisation of the aviation scene in Bangladesh.
The agreement would be the airline's second attempt to renew its fleet and secure a partnership with an aircraft manufacturer. In 2023, the country signed a bilateral agreement with the UK that would see the airline order new A350s. This deal was, however, never firmed-up.
Today, Biman's fleet is made-up of four B737-800s, four B777-300ERs, four B787-8s, two B787-9s, and five DHC-8-400s.
