AirBelgium 640CMA CGM acquires Air Belgium

On 30 April 2025, Air Belgium announced that the bankruptcy court in Belgium has approved the acquisition of the airline's cargo-flying activities by CMA CGM. The new owner has also received the necessary licenses from the Belgian civil aviation authorities, clearing the way to operate flights. As a result of the acquisition by CMA CGM, 136 jobs have been saved.

Air Belgium will continue to operate, for now, under its own brand name and continue to fly with its fleet of two Airbus A330-200P2Fs and two Boeing B747-8Fs. Both Airbuses are, however, currently parked at Woensdrecht.

CMA CGM and Air Belgium have worked very closely in the past, when Air Belgium operated aircraft for the French logistics company when it didn't had its own Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) yet. Previously, Air Belgium had reached an agreement with Peso Aviation Management and Air One International Holdings but that deal fell through.
