Emirates increases B777-9 orders
On 17 November 2025, the first day of the Dubai Air Show, Emirates and Boeing announced that the airline has increased its orders for the B777-9. In total, the airline is ordering 65 additional aircraft.
Interestingly, the airline makes no mention of the B777-8 in its future fleet plan anymore, only of the B777-9. The 35 it had order seems to have been converted into the larger version.
With this latest order, Emirates now has a total of 270 B777-9s on order, making the airline the biggest customer for the type.
In its press-release, Emirates also announced it will conduct a feasibility study with Boeing for the B777-10 and that the airline has the right to upgauge to this version when launched and needed. However, Boeing's press-release, doesn't make any mention of this at all. The B777-10 would be a lengthened version of the B777-9.
Apart from the additional B777-9s, Emirates also has open orders with Boeing for ten B777Fs and 35 B787s.
