MD11F WesternGlobal 640FAA grounds MD-11

In the wake of the fatal UPS MD-11F crash at Louisville (KY) on 4 November 2025, the FAA has decided to ground all MD-11s until further notice.

The move comes after Boeing also asked operators to halt flights with the type until there's more clarity on the cause of the crash.

The grounding impacts the three final operators of the type which are FedEx (29 aircraft impacted), UPS (26 aircraft), and Western Global Airlines (twelve aircraft).

Both FedEx and UPS were planning to operate the MD-11F until around 2032. It's currently unclear if the crash and grounding will change this.
