Falcon 6X makes first flight

On 10 March, Dassault's newest jet, the Falcon 6X, made its first flight. The aircraft, registered F-WSIX (1), took of from Bordeaux and flew without any issues for 2,5 hours. The first flights marks the start of the aircraft's certification programme and Dassault expects to deliver the first 6X to a customer in 2022.

The 6X is Dassault's attempt to offer competition to the Bombardier Global 5000/5500/6000/6500 and the Gulfstream G500/G600. It can seat up to sixteen passengers and will be able to fly up to 10,200 km. According to the manufacturer, the Falcon 6X has the largest cross-section of all bizjets, featuring a 1,98 m standing height and a width of 2,59 m. The 6X is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW812Ds.

Following the first flight, F-WSIX will transfer to Istres-Le Tubé where the flight-testing programme will be conducted. It will be joined by two additional Falcon 6Xs.
