LOT retires last DHC-8-400s

The start of the new year saw the official end of the DHC-8-400s in the LOT-fleet. The last flight was operated by SP-EQL (4451) on 1 January, which flew from Gdansk to Warsaw as LO3836. Earlier, on 6 December 2022, the airline conducted a special farewell-flight for the type.

Over the years, LOT operated twelve DHC-8-400s, of which the first was delivered on 1 April 2015. All have now been returned to their lessor Nordic Aviation Capital and two have already found a new home with flybe. The other ten are currently stored at various airports in Poland.

LOT is replacing the DHC-8-400s with its Embraers and is currently in the process of deciding on which regional jet aircraft it will order next. The competition is between the Airbus A220 and the Embraer E2.
