Porter Airlines takes delivery of first E195-E2s

At a special ceremony at Embraer's site at São José dos Campos on 21 December 2022, Porter Airlines took delivery of its first two E195-E2s. Unfortunately, the exact registrations are currently unknown. Together with three more E195-E2s, they will make the journey to Canada before the end of this year. The two aircraft are the first of 50 E195-E2s the airline has order, with options on another 50. Porter first ordered 30 E195-E2s in 2021, with 50 purchase rights and twenty more this year.

The airline is planning to massively grow and will launch flights with its new jets in February 2023. Inititally, it will use them out of Toronto-Pearson International to Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal and Ottawa. Later, Porter is also planning to base the jets of out other cities in Canada and also use the aircraft for new international flights to destinations in the US, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Porter's E195-E2s are equipped in an all economy lay-out, seating up to 132 passengers. The introduction of the type is a big step-up for the airline, which is currently operating a fleet of 29 DHC-8-400s.
