SUM Air places ATR72-order
On 3 April 2026, South Korean start-up and ATR signed an order for new ATR72-600s. In total, the airline is placing a firm order for four aircraft with options on another four. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2028.
The airline, which commenced commercial operations a day earlier, welcomed its first leased ATR72-600 in January 2026. Two more leased ATRs will be delivered this year.
The start-up plans to focus on the new airport at Ulleungdo, that is planned to open in 2027, and from there fly to domestic destinations. It also has plans to expand with flights to China and Japan later on.
