I have registered for the spotters days and just received my paypal invoice. The only problem is my invoice isn't in English so I can't read it. Does anyone know who I can email so maybe I can get my invoice translated into English?

Thanks,

Hi Don,

Think it's great you share all info that you can with us.
Despite not every unit being able to participate, i hope it will provide great training for those units involved.
And it will sure be a great event !

Hey Hawkeye 67. Got the following answer from the base at Konya:

"It is not allowed to take photos and 'hang on the fence' in our base. Our MPs normally react in a few minutes and request police support if there will be any situation out of the fence. So, currently the answer is NO.

But for the NTM an 'outside the fence' area could possibly be designated. It sounds good and reasonable. I will pass this info to our Security Unit and will give you an answer ASAP, probably next week."

So, we wait a bit. Is there anyone out there who has been to Konya for last year's spotters day?? Let me know what area outside the base would be best if they DO offer you all a special area. I can then try to arrange that space when I'm there at the MPC. Cheers, Don

Don, let's hope the Turks will make it possible to create a 'outside the fence' area for the other days of the NTM.
Thanks for letting us know if you receive the final answer.
Much appreciated!

Kind regards,
Peter

Your support and cooperation is appreciated by all!

I haven't been on the outside, and assume that hardly anyone does (for photos that is) for obvious reasons. From the perimeter fence it will be landing shots only. AFAIK 01L/19R is the preferred runway. There are not many roads that lead to the fence. For 01L (in the morning) that would mean that you are either far from the centerline or far from the beginning of the runway. 19R might be a bit better.

Stefan

Spotting @ Konya AB
Posted on Monday, 9 February 2015

We have received several request for information concerning spotting @ Konya AB during #NTM2015
This is the official word from the base:
It is not allowed to take photos and "hang on the fence" in our base.

Our M.P. will react in a few minutes and request police support if there will be any situation out of the fence.

Please announce this procedure the spotters who wants to attend the event.

We know that spotting "hanging around the base" is a tolerated item in most of Europe, but we hope that also due to the current world situation you take these warnings in consideration.

Maybe wise to wait for final conclusions until we have some news from Don.

Hi Peter, et al, Reply today from Konya is as before. NOT ALLOWED.

I'll bring the subject up at the MPC. Talking to the local people (security chief, Base CO, etc) face to face for a special group (spotters who come a long way) may yield results. BUT, looking at the wording given to Starfighter, don't get your hopes up!!

I'm the senior advisor to the NTA, I'm sure I'd know if such a rumor was true. I was just in contact with the host a couple hours ago and I can assure you nothing along these lines was mentioned. May I ask from whom did you hear such a thing?? Cheers, Don

Ok Don,
while answering to your question "from whom i got this info", he/ she is correcting the statement by saying that at least 11 nations are NOT going to participate.....

Guess it's hardly unreliable......

Time will tell ...
Guess Don will try to inform us where and when possible.
However 11 nations seems to be hard, 11 units ....
