Read an advertisement in the July issue of Aircraft Illustrated (they organise a trip to there), the show would be there this year.

On the other hand, a few years ago organisers said at an european airshow council meeting they were heading for 2009 for the next major show. Organising the show for next september looks like a very tight time-schedule, if you still have to officially announce the show now.

After the first big post-Kalamata event there have been some lower key events at Tanagra, and every year the Greeks said "Next time Archangel will return". I'm afraid it might be another low-key event this year, but of course I hope I will be wrong on this.

Got this from the HAF a few days ago...
Yes there will be a static Airshow again at Tanagra airbase on 12-14 of September 2008

Only HAF planes will fly like 2005 but no acrobatic teams

Also a Slovenian PC-9 will fly

Thanks, that's enough for me. Like to see the A-7's and for the last time the Buckeyes. If they will fly. :D

They haven't made a decision about a replacement for the Buckeye yet (or did I miss something?)

The Hellenic Airforce made the official announcement on their website here: http://www.haf.gr/el/airshow2008/ albeit only in Greek at the moment.

It says that there will be a "static display" at Tanagra AB "of all flying assets of all Hellenic Armed Forces' branches and foreign Air Forces" and that all HAF bases will be open as well with static displays.

Dates: September 12, 13 and 14, 2008.

Details TBA soon.

When I translate that site correctly... it says that all Air Force Bases will have a static display organised on 8-11 November instead of September.

Jaap,

Using Babalfish, I came to the following:

Air Demonstration 2008
Feast of Martial Aviation 2008 [St]o of [plaisi]o celebration of Protector of Martial Aviation, Archangel Michail, will be realised the following events:.

In the Air Base of Tanagra in the 12, 13 and 14 September 2008, static report of volatile medium Greek Armed Forces and Aviations of foreigner countries.
In the all Air Bases of [P].[A] in the 8 until 11 November 2008, static reports of means and planes of Martial Aviation.
The analytic program of activities will be announced in the very near future.

Regards, Paul.

Plans change all the time.

You are correct about the other HAF bases. As it stands now all other bases, including the HAF Museum, will be closed for the public. (The HAF Museum can be visited on workdays with previous arrangement).

However, I've been talking to the people in the organising committee and the told me that there will be a flying display "not unlike the one we had in 2005" but with little or no foreign Air Forces' participation.
This was NOT an official announcement and I can NOT guarantee this won't change in a week or so.

So check the official website (now also in English) for more info as it becomes available.

Hi Tomcatz,

I visited the museum in 2005. I arranged this through the Dutch ambassy in Athens. So try that as well I would say.
