Japan Airshow Dates 2009

Jan.11, 2009. 1100-1200.
"First Drop Training of the year" will held at JGSDF Narashino training area.
The area opens to the public at around 0800-0930 usually, and the choppers arrive at around 0830-0930.
You usually can take the photos of those arrivals in closely.

Access;
From the North gate of the JR Tsudanuma station(Sobu Line, 30min. from Tokyo),
take the public bus for 20min. to the bus stop of "Narashino" or "Kita-Narashino Danchi-Iriguchi" and walk for a few min..

Note; Usually it is very very cold!! Take care!

This is my own forecast of Japan Airshow 2009.

23-28 Mar., The Min.Def. will release official O.H. schedules of FY2009.
(Please remember that the Japanese FY starts from April 1.)
5 Apr. JASDF Kumagaya with Blue Impulse.
5 May., MCAS Iwakuni, you'll be able to see the 3rd US-2.
19 or 26 May., JMSDF Atsugi, you'll be able to see XP-1(5501 or 5502).
Oct. USAF Thunderbirds will come to Misawa or Kadena.

15 Feb. JASDF Mineokayama sub-base O.H., Chiba pref..Open 0900-1500.
Sometimes one helicopter come for the display.
Access; The shuttle bus will be avilable at the car park of the
Kamogawa-Kokuho hospital, near the JR Kamogawa station.

8 Mar. JGSDF Camp Kasugai O.H., Aichi pref.. Open 0900-1500.
Usually one OH-6D shows us "Observation flight"., but no static display.

10 May. JMSDF Kanoya O.H., Kagoshima pref.
On 9 May, they will have some "Experimental flights" by P-3C, UH-60J and OH-6D.
You'll be able to see them from outside of the base.
Access; From the Kagoshima city, ride on the ferry boat 30min. and then take a
local bus service about 50min. to the base. They will be very crowded at
that day....

17 May. JASDF Shizuhama O.H.. No further infomations by now.

28 Mar. NAF Atsugi Cherry Blossom Festival, with static display from 1000am-1600pm.
If it will be rainy on Saturday, open 29th.
Caution: There will be a long line and it will take about 2Hrs. to enter the base.
You had better to go to the base at 0800am or before.

USAF Yokota seems to be have their opendays on Aug.22-23.

The regular O.H. will held in October.
4 Oct. JGSDF Kisarazu.
3 Nov. JASDF Iruma.
10 Jan, 2010 JGSDF Narashino.

The official Blue Impulse schedules will be released by the end of March.

I'm sorry, I saw a calendar of the April 2009 !
I mean it will be the 3rd. or the 4th. weekend of the May.
But its only my expection.
There are no official release about the JAMSDF Atsugi O.H. by now.

Hey there,

I was curious about the MCAS Iwakuni Air Show 2009 on May 5th. I was reading an article and it said it was open for the Military families and Japanese nationals. Does this mean I can't fly over and get in to the air show? I'm just curious.
