AN-225 - Doncaster Sheffield Airport

Post by FlyingmonsterFC »

Yesterday saw the world's only Antonov AN-225 arrive at Doncaster Sheffield Airport in the UK from its home at Kiev Gostomel Airport in the Ukraine. Flying as ADB373F, the jet is believed to have been collecting a number of generators.

On arrival, the aircraft flew a 'flypast' down the runway to allow the jet's current crew a chance to see the runway due to their unfamiliarity with the airport - an incredible sight!

The aircraft is due to depart to Leipzig Halle Airport at 1200 (local) today and then on to Baku Heydär Äliyev Airport for a night stop before heading back to Gostomel on the 13th.

Thanks for looking!

It still creates goosebumps, when I recall my memory seeing it arrive at Paris - Le Bourget, with Buran op top......
First only Buran above the fog, and then (OH MY GOD IT'S HUGE) the whole bloody thing......
