Forum rules
ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

From my point of view, the DC4 is a nice catch.

(No MIL in this post)

19/22-11-2016: The last few days of our trip we encountered more clouds and some bad luck at Grand Canyon West and Henderson, so we ended up spending most of the time at McCarran photographing airliners. I will post those photos later on, but first, here are a few other bits and pieces.

46. On our way to Grand Canyon West airport we passed a small heliport near Meadview. Beautiful light around 8 AM.

47. The town of Laughlin is best described as a Mini Las Vegas. On a Sunday morning a lot of senior gamblers left on this S.C. plane. You can actually see two states in this picture: the airport is in Arizona, but the area beyond the Colorado river is Nevada.

48. Our final visit to North Las Vegas was a bit disappointing as it was a lot more quiet than on our first and second visits. Nevertheless I caught this nice Dornier taking off.

19/22-11-2016: As promised some airliners at McCarran.

49. Missed this one so many times at LAX last year, so I am glad I finally caught it.

53. I missed the Sands 747SP as I was in St George that day, but at least I got the A340-500.

I will conclude with a few sunset photos. I hope you enjoyed the show; thanks for watching. Once I uploaded the full report on my website, I will give you a heads-up.

How fitting. The 737 in photo #51 is used to shuttle personnel from Las Vegas to.....Area 51 (and some other ranges)

The airline's unofficial name is JANET (Just Another Non Existent Terminal) :) and it's surrounded in secrecy. All operations are very hush hush.

And I think the guy in the F-86 Sabre is mr Steve Hinton himself.

Nice catch and very nice report.
I always say a boy can learn more at an airport than at any school.

Basman wrote:Very nice report Joost, I like the mix of mil/civ and the choppers and bizzers in your report, we seem to have the same 'focus' (although I skip Robinsons).

Just a question, what is so sneaky about the two bizjets at Apple Valley? Both are registered to Classic Rotors Ramona, which is a helicopter museum at Ramona CA. Maybe they will trade these for choppers? The Lear is a former C-21A obviously.

Hi,
Visited Ramona, CA today and was advised that
both are being held for a possible future trade/sale for spares/funds. A very congested museum with lots of optisimum!
