Normally my work does not allow me time to go on a spottingtrip in January. This year there was some time in the planning.
I have never been to the WEF in Zurich so this year was my chance. I booked a day return for Zurich for Saturday the 21st
and booked 2 2 hour tours with Buchair. Upon arrival I found I should have done more research. In the last years the actual Forum was
from Wednesday till Friday with Friday and Saturday being the days for the return flights. This year the forum was from Tuesday
till Thursday (probably because of an american president being sworn in on Friday) with as a consequence: hardly any WEF planes left on Saturday.
Anyway, you are there and you make the best of it.
The weather in Northern Europa was very clear this day, during the flight to Zurich we had a nice sunrise.
On this photo you can see the blue sky and clear view of the ground. Unfortunately you an also see the band of clouds
in the left upper part just between the mountains. This is were Zurich is and you guessed it, no sun in Zurich
On with the tour
The only government plane left, from the republic of Georgia.
This interesting Hawker 4000 has been at Zurich for some time for maintenance, it happened to be outside and, we as a group, managed to get in a position to take a photo
My first photos of a CS100
There are 2 Turkish A330 stored at Zurich with Irish registrations
After 4 hours touring with the bus to every possible corner of the airport, I was getting a breather (and getting warm) in the cafetaria on the observation terrace
When this one suddenly drove by, a mad run over the terrace was made with this photo as a result, sorry for the dark corners, the aperture shifted to wide open during the run.
After this nothing much happened anymore so I turned my attention to aviation related objects
and more general scenery
Then it was time for the return flight and while walking to the gate this was parked at the pier
Despite the absence of WEF planes and the lack of sun I can recommend doing the bustour with Buchair to all spotters. It is amazing and an example
to all airports what can be done to accomodate spotters if there is a will to do so and a group of trusted spotters to organise it.
Also many thanks to my fellow spotters who shared in this day.
Kind regards
