Forca Aerea Portuguesa - Evora 2018

Post by Sullivan »

Due to work commitments I found myself missing the Llandudno Armed Forces day and instead in the tiny city of Evora, Portugal.

As I approached the outskirts of the city I was over-passed by a C130 Hercules closely followed by a quartet of F-16's in box formation close to the small municipal airfield. Finding it strange as it was a Saturday, I continued to the hotel to check in, to be greeted by another pair of F-16's ripping towards the airport. Catching a cab into the city the driver explained it was a celebration of 66 years of the air force and on this occasion it was being held in Evora. Bingo!, except I had no camera gear as I was there to work :grr:

A small display was set up in the city, followed by a small airshow on Sunday at the airport.

Below is a brief log and some snaps from my iphone as there really was no point in trying to photograph the active flying display.
