831st tactical aviation brigade

Post by Arnold ten Pas »

Hi,

Last April we were able to visit some bases of the Ukrainian Forces. One of the highlights was a visit to the 831st tactical aviation brigade “Myrgorodska” at Miygorod. The unit flies different versions of the Su-27 and uses some L-39s as training aircraft. Most notably were the Su-27M1 variants (upgraded by MiGremont) in the new pixelated color-scheme.

Flying started in the afternoon and the group was positioned at different positions along the runway to get the best pictures. Besides that, the solo display Su-27 gave a demonstration as it would do later in the airshow season many times. Flying activities were high and when time past by, it was getting darker and darker. The unit had planned for some evening flying and to assist with that, the runway was lit with mobile lighting systems. From a photography point of view very interesting, but also very difficult. Luckily some pictures came out quite nice! Full report can be found here: https://www.4aviation.nl/reports/report-ukraine-2018/
