IrishAir Corps retires the Alouette III, 21st Sept 2007

Hi Guys,

On Friday 21st September the Irish Air Corps retired the Alouette III from operational service aftering serving for nearly 44 years.

The first AIII deilvered in 1963, 195, was the last Alouette flying if only by a few minutes. The pictures below are a mixed bag that were taken on the day, there was a flypast with a brief display before the heli's came in to land for the last time.

There are rumours that one of the Alouette's will be kept flying until it reaches it's 400 hour inspection but I've been unable to confirm the rumour so far.

As you can see from the pictures the weather was rubbish, but I took the pictures anyway for their historical significance. Of course the sun came out after the flying finished but what can you do about it! :(

wow! very very nice pictures!
some did remind me of the grasshoppers, haha!
so you've seen all the all3's left flying.
I was lucky to spot one at the helidays this year.

Als je het niet wil pakken , dan pak ik het wel.... moet je wel zeggen waar?????....

Some nice shots of some nice helicopters!!!! Didnt knew there were so much Alouette's III that were used by one country. :lol:

Hej Frank,

As we can see here wheatherconditions do not allways have to be sun & blue sky. Although the crappy wheather you managed to get some very nice shots.
I like the first line-up shot (#7) where it seems like those Alls are standing on a never ending runway...

Great shots of a great helicopter, i remember the big allouette formation at Gilze-Rijen in 1995 when they arrived from deelen. You've made a few stunning pictures; number 2 is my favourite

Very nice pictures,

It is a nice helicopter, i was flying one time in it and it was very plesant!

Only one thing was not so nice, i didn't now that this was going on ( i was in a hotel only 2 km's away), i went to Dublin Airport (very bad weather) and Dublin. I saw a formation of de Alouete III. above the city.
