This morning I tried to get to the Army Open Days in Oirschot but that was a mistake. The traffic jam was of such proportions that I turned around and went to Gilze-Rijen instead. The participating choppers flew from Gilze and it was a mixed affair. Mostly too high or too far away for the photographers but some were allright.

Great shot!!! I wanted to go today, but didn't because of the weatherforecast and the long travel time (2 and a half hour by train). Thought about going by car, but good idea I didn't I see.

The weather was ok it seems.

You have to be there very early

This afternoon they closed down access to the stands 30 minutes before the start. Capacity of the stands is very, very limited, compared to the number of visitors.
Didn't made a photo today and went home early

Last time at Oirschot, there was plenty opportunity to make photos.
Now all flying activities will be at the 'hei'.

Very nice first posting Joren! I particularly like the way you framed the Chinook!

Some good shots of the event itself Nick. The Lynx above the marines (Are they marines?) is my favourite.
I was thinking of maybe going to Oirschot early tomorrow just to try to get some action shots but judging by Joris' comments this doesn't seem a good idea after all.

What a day, very good wx, aircraft and an enjoyable atmosphere at Oirschot. We had no traffic jams, no problems at the stands. Just go early (like you have to at every major
event nowadays) and you will have no problems what so ever. On entry go straight to the stands and stay there. Indeed there is way less space than years before, that's true.
And if you manage to get a seat up in the corner of the stand way on top, then you may find the comms guy fom the army next to you, or at least he'll ask you to move on over a bit...

Somehow they kept people out of the stands even though they were not completely filled, we had a complete bench of six free seats in front of us during the first display. Not too shabby when you try to take some decent

Ironie after last year events, Navy in the role of CasEvac

Slammer 'slamming two dummies' in the waterpond, those were huge explosions they had for us!! Only one pass from him though

All in all, a very nice demos both on the big and little display area. Reading in the news aftewards that the Army expected some 50.000 people each day. I'd say that that was a bit foolish and a BIG mistake apparantly seeing how big it already was organised last year at Wezep and before that in Havelte. They should have knwon bette. Prepare for 100K each day next year. Deelen seems a pretty good central option for next decades Army days when they organise it this big. With rain and thunder coming down right now I think I'll sleep well and skip tomorrow.

I also had a great day yesterday. I went by train and bus and had no trouble at all reaching the event. Photo-oportunities where almost perfect and the weather was very nice. As far as I could see the helicopters departed from the military excercise terrain during the displays.
