Me and Hans went to Wittmund last Wednesday and after a foggy start they decided to fly a bit. Also three Skyhawk went out and did two missions. Here some impressions of that day with very changing weather.

Peter and Hans. Nice pictures. Can you update us about the current situation at Wittmund. Has anything changed compared to last year?

Thanks,

Alex

Nice ones Peter. Old fashion spotting, standing in the fog at around 10.30, only 100 meters visibilty and not knowing if there would be any flying activity att all! Luckely the fog went away completely an hour later so glad to have activity between 12.00 and 17.00.

Well, we have only been on the west side but the new fence is finished. You can get until the first barrier and that's it. The fence is about 2 metres high with barbed wire on top of it. Security came to check one time at 4pm and asked us to keep clear of the fence. I think it was just checking who was standing there all day.

Hi Alex,

Yes you realy need steps if you want to photograph onto the runway. It is possible to stand in the farmland and photograph landing jets without steps. I brought a two-step one and it was enough to take shots between the fence and barbed wire.

Here a few more:
