IL-18 and DC-4 - 25 April 2009

Post by Cloudhopper »

Friday and yesterday I visited Teuge EHTE to make pictures of the IL-18 DDR-STD, which arrived on 24 April.

I arrived just before dawn...

So I returned the next morning for a better picture:

Then we went to Geraardsbergen/Overboelaare to see the DC-4 which is stored there for a long time, but I never visited it.

It's not often that I see a DC-4 and an IL-18 on the same day :D

Here you can find pictures of the arrival of the IL-18 made by Bram van der Sluis:

In Belgium, west of Brussels.

So it's not near Teuge  but we went to Belgium to visit a balloonfiesta in Waregem.
Good to have an Il-18 in The Netherlands, one can only hope they will keep/restore the exterior a bit tastefull....
I heard the rumour that the aircraft will be painted in a grey and blue colourscheme. We'll wait and see...

hmm..being an old conservative "mannetje", I'm afraid I would have liked a nice restauration of the Interflug nicer but hey, guess I'll have to count my blessings, and the fact that they preserve it is already nice....

passed by Teuge last weekend, and I couldn't recall seeing pics of the Il-18 here at Scramble...
So, this is how the Il-18 looks nowadays.. fences and poles all around it, but the paint-job looks good (depsite the fact that the colorscheme doesn't really fit this grand old lady..) so it's likely to be around for a while...

besides this ''dead'' aircraft, this vital veteran was pushed outside.. a shame I had to continue my journey before she took off (I assume)..
