Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

Dear Kevin,

I have to say; very, very nice material!! Stuff I don't get to see much on this site! Very artistic with great compositions. Keep up the good work.

Cheers,

Is it possible to see anything from the outside at Tampere and Rovaniemi? I will fly to Tampere next week and we stay in a cottage just south from Rovaniemi. Maybe I will visit the base for a few hours instead of fishing in the lakes.

To answer a couple of questions;

Most of the photo's are taken on base (Kauhava the exception) at the air force open house days as listed on this very forum!

However, regarding viewing from the outside.....

At Tampere you will only be able to see anything when it appears by the runway (Civil Terminal end) as trees stop any views into the mil part of the base. They generally fly from 8.30 and finish by 3pm according to a local source, but not in any great numbers, waves of 4 F-18s etc. Both approaches are accesable for photo's though.

At Rovaniemi you can get a good view of the base from the civil terminal, and if you wanted to read off numbers you can see the Hornet line by going as far as you can past the terminal, near to a dumped An-2. You can shoot photo's on the runway at approx 300mm but I wouldn't expect a great variety of photo's!

Kuopio and Kauhava (on the way to Rovaneimi) are better places for photo's from the outside but you will probably be paid a visit at some point, but allowed to carry on.

Thanks for all the kind commets too;

Kevin
