Guys,

I might take the afternoon of, so I could be there around mid day.

Some pointers:
Image
Most of the spotting this time of year will be around the northern part of the airport, spots 1, 2 and 3. Spots 1 and 2 are basically the same, they are located on the same beach. Spot 1 is the beach itself (landing shots like the Avianca A318), spot 2 is the fence near the crash gate, looking over the taxitrack and holding for the runway end. If you go from spot 2 towards spot 3 along the fence you reach a point where the aircraft turn from the taxitrack onto the holding point where you can take pictures like the TACA A320 end the Avior B737. Moving along the fence towards spot 3, you are alongside the taxitrack. Spotting can be done here on a sort of run-off from the main road, Aruban people use this to park and look at the aircraft. There are two huts with benches where you can sit and relax in the shade. Moving along the fence from point 3 (at the map) you get to the built up area of the airport and your view will be obstructed by different companies, but some limited views can be had although photography is almost impossible (and maybe security may be alerted when you try overthere. I wouldn't know, I've never tried  ) Views from the terminal (point 4) are limited to airside only, and those are difficult too, as the building is straight and the gates are used on the backlight side most of the day). Aircraft parked at the apron on the gates that use the apron busses may be an opportunity, but that I have also not tried out. Moving along the fence from the terminal to spot 5 is useless, as the airfield is significantly higher than the road, and there are no taxitracks on that side. Spot 5 itself is one I have never used, it's only handy if the winds are from the west (and in the 11 months I've been here, that has happened less than 10 days...). Continuing on to Spot 6, the general aviation terminal, this is where the bizzjets and other small aircraft park (like the Brazilian Embraer). This time of year its backlight during most of the day, only at high noon the sun is straight above you and some decent shots can be made. Spot 7 is the final spot and some taxiing aircraft can be shot there from a parking lot (like the Grand Caravan). This spot can be used from about noon till sundown.

And off course, if you have any other questions, PM me! (Dutch or English)

Saluda!

Some more info:

(A320, B737)
Spot 1: Anywhere from 100 to 200mm, depending on how far you go down the beach
Spot 2: 200mm or more
Spot 2.5 (the one I described): 50 to 100mm, depending on how far you go along the fence
Spot 3: 35 to 70mm (35 is side shot, 70 as the aircraft taxis into the frame)
Spot 6: 100mm and up (depending on the size of the aircraft)
Spot 7: 100mm and up, again depending on the size of the aircraft
