To my surprise I noticed that Friday's Air Chathams flight to/from Wellington had moved to Saturday. Unfortunately, I could not make it to the airport before it arrived but I thought I would try my luck and see if it was not ZK-CIF (the white one).
It was scheduled to depart at 1 pm, which should give me still reasonable light from the spot on top the hill next to the runway but as the flight had arrived late earlier, it also departed an hour late. By this time, the light was really tricky but I decided that the hill top would be my only chance for some front angle taxi shots.
I was lucky as it was ZK-CIB, with its recently overhauled engines and its beautiful green tail. That just leaves me to catch ZK-CIE for the complete set.
(And then its time to move onto the Air Freight NZ Convairs, based at Auckland, which only seem to visit WLG at night!)
As the light wasn't great at Wellington and nothing but the regular 737s, Q300s, B1900Ds and ATR-72s came in, I will spare you the boring stuff.
Here's a shot taken yesterday (Friday) on the HeliPro helipad which is across my office. I was hoping they would fly their JetRanger, BK-117 or a leased Hughes 500 but only their R22 and this AS350 were seen. Nevertheless, it gets you through your lunch break.
