Margraten Cemetery (LB) - Memorial Day (Sunday 24th)

Post by Osprey66 »

As U.S. Memorial Day always is last monday of May, tradition is that on the sunday prior there is the annual commemoration to remember the fallen at Margraten Cemetery (Limburg).

This year's 75th ceremony unfortunately will be very sober (unlike usual NO massed attending, due wellknown reasons), but on the other hand it is officially announced the king will lay the first reef. (Live) coverage will be from a.m. on via L1-tv, (Ziggo713)

I'd be very surprised if the traditional expected F-16 4-box (+1 spare; presumed from EHLW) for 'Missing Man'-honour wouldn't fly, but someone to confirm as to attend on certain (social) distance....

Especially this year's special marking (which collides with a worldwide pandemic virus) compare and realise 'some' liberty we hand in now, with the never to forget sacrifices the fallen made.

After all we were not liberated for nothing
Remember them & stay safe!

When the formation passed over the cemetery on television, the formation had already left on adsb-exchange . So the live broadcast had a delay. Probably because of the opportunity for live subtitles.

A/A on 241.625 (and 141.450, after switching from 125.930 to 397.275, on their way back to Leeuwarden)

Left to right:

J-061
J-135
J-644 (Missing Man)
J-631

So J-511 must have been the spare (unobserved as overcast)

Thanks Polly Grey! (many hundreds observed and supported the salute from surrounding grounds :worship: )

As J-135 was (as standard in this configuration) in head-position, that'll explain it's ident (only)

Right

.................<<--- J-631

........<<--- J-644 (MM)

<<--- J-135

........<<--- J-061
