Just overhead Hoorn a deep rumbling turboprop sound. It is a few years ago that I've seen/heard the An-22 but this sound looked like it.
Anyway, it was a very nice sound:-)

This was the Antonov An-22 on her way to Prestwick where she landed this Sunday evening. Currently she is "tech". Originally she was planned to fly back to Kiev-Gostomel early Sunday morning but there have obviously been delays...

Hi all,

Around 18.45lt a big 4 engined turboprop came overhead Veghel at high level.
The contrails where very close together and it had a very weird sound.
Haven't heard this before. It travelled approx. from east to west.

Could this be what I think it is?? The An-22??

Regards, Rob.

Flying from East to West? Not the An-22!

This plane went tech at Prestwick last Sunday evening. When I last checked the local lists five minutes ago there was still no sign of her leaving.
Yesterday An-74 UR-74010 did deliver some spare parts though. The jet departed this morning. Will give an update if I come across one.

Thanks...

Damn....what did I see and hear then???
It was a prop, four contrails close to each other, weird high sound which I never heard before.

And all this around 18.45lt travelling approx east-west at high level.

Anyone any idea what this might have been??

Regards, Rob.

I just looked up some films at youtube of the An-22.
And hearing the sound of this aircraft, I'm pretty sure this must have been it.

I was mistaken. The Antonov An-22 isn't at Prestwick anymore.

Have just received several messages stating that this beast left at 03.43 hrs zulu in the morning for Kiev-Gostomel, landing over there at ATA 0827Z.
I don't know its' current whereabouts...

Yep, this is the same I've from an English forum.
But unfortunately still no words if this beast went back to the west again.

But after listening to the sound at some films at youtube, i'm 99% sure this was it.
It really is a sound you can't miss.
