Lann-Bihoué 2019

Post by Buccaneer S.2B »

Good afternoon,

In September holiday was spent in beautifull Brittany ("Bretagne"), also allowing some time for BAN Lann-Bihoué.
Both days had North-Eastern wind, wich is splendid as the Western side of the airfield suits our needs really well !
Sun in the back, close distance to the taxiway, extremely quiet road, inside only a few joggers along the fence.
So no problems at all for spotting & photographing.

Tuesday, 10 September 2019 (12.15/16.30)

The Alizé can be seen from the civil terminal, looking in the direction of the main gate.
The Falcon 50 was seen at the platform near the H46/H48 hangars, which are about 300m before the cvil terminal
at your right hand side. The MB339 was also flying from this area.
The Bae41 is flying for the Atla Flotilles, so sits in the South West base area

Higlight was without doubt the Hawkeye. Along the eastern perimeter of the South-West (Atlantic) area a dedicated cycle-path
runs to the civil terminal. Somewhere halfway, between bushes and trees, the E-2 could (just) be seen. I took numerous pictures,
and thanks to the special paint (tail) I was able to identify it. Yes !!

Conclusion: not an enormous amount of aircraft, but the marvellous spotting conditions and the variety (2 ATLA's, a Hawkeye, Fa50, Xingu,
MB339, Bae41) were definitely worth the effort !

Nice log!

Was there in May 2017. I saw one Atlantic 2 and three Aeronavale Xingus (also the special coloured fin).
