Spotting in Czech Republic

Post by Graham Skinner »

Hi
Has anybody visited Prerov and Ceske Budejovice in the Czech Republic recently? Understand there are/or were a lot of stored aircraft at these places, can they be seen from outside, if so anyone have directions. If not has anybody managed to get a tour, if so any contact details known?
Finally what is the situation regarding spotting and photographing around bases in this country.
Thank you for any help on this
Best Regards Graham

The stored stuff at Prerov can be seen from the Aeroclub. To avoid supsicion, just check in with the locals at the Aeroclub and they'll make no trouble (at least not when I was there).

The operational stuff can be seen at the northside of the base. If I recall correctly follow the road north of the base topwards the west and make a leftturn towards a small settlement. This is part of a large farm/factory. These premises seem fairly open. From here you have a view on the operational aprons.

Last time I was there it was during weekends and we mainly focussed on W&R. The operational stuff we did saw was failry far away. I'd say to be discrete when photographing operational stuff. Beter safe than sorry ;-)
