Beja (LPBJ/BJA) - 2011

Post by Antoni »

Hi all,

Maybe the wrong topic ( in that case sorry for that), but at the moment I'm staying at Portimao and planning a trip to Beja. I think I'm going tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Anybody have some tips about the location and flying hours?

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Antoni

Hi,

I would avoid the day after tomorrow (Oct 5th) because it's national holiday and flying activity may be reduced as it is during weekends. I only know one spotting spot, at the public road south of the runway, just near the new civil terminal.

Hi Antoni,

Sure have a look at the airfield of Portimao!
The Portugese AF regulary hold shortfield landing flights at this airfield with C-212 or C-295.
And on a more regulary base, Do-28G93 can be pictured overthere (former Luftwaffe and NigerianAF)

Cu!

Yesterday (03/10) eight Baf F16's from Kleine Brogel departed towards Beja for 1-2 weeks. Maybe you can catch them!!!

Thanks for the tip EOS,

That should be nice.

After my visit, I'll post my log at the forum. I'll hope to catch them.

That's why BAF Falcons, Embraers and C-130s visited Beja recently.

Do you have any idea about what type of training they come here for? I'm asking this because if they're coming for weapons training they'll surely give a nice spotting oportunity around Alcochete range.

See here: http://s252.photobucket.com/albums/hh10 ... 2009NOV07/
Results can be much better with equipment better than i had at the time.

Yesterday I visited LPBJ, behind some locals (my log will follow) I've seen 4 Belgium F-16's (I think there where more behind the trees). They where at the platform all day and to far away to read the reg's :-(

Nice visitor was the Belgium CD-01 witch approached in the morning and left about 2 hours later.
