Gulfstream delivers final G450
Iconic aircraft retires as next-generation G500 business jet approaches certification
Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. announced that it has delivered the final Gulfstream G450 as it prepares to usher in the next generation of business aviation with the all-new Gulfstream G500.

Pilatus Aircraft has delivered its second PC-24 to its US dealer and maintenance provider Western Aircraft.
The handover of aircraft serial number 102 – carrying the registration N224WA –
came as the first production example
enters service with fractional ownership company PlaneSense.
Pilatus plans to deliver 23 of the superlight business jets in 2018,
from an order backlog of 84 aircraft.
PlaneSense, one of Pilatus’s largest customers, has an order for six PC-24s,
but is keen to acquire additional aircraft to add to its fleet of 36 PC-12s.
The fractional ownership operator, based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire,
is the launch customer for the eight-seat,
Williams International FJ44-4A-powered twin,
having taken delivery of its first example in February 2018.
The aircraft, bearing the registration N124AF,
entered service with fractional owners on 1 April,
says PlaneSense founder and chief executive George Antoniadis.
Gulfstream recently delivered the 300th G650.
The first aircraft entered service in December 2012,
and the model continues to be in high demand, the Savannah, Georgia, manufacturer said.
The G650 and the G650ER, the extended-range version, have broken several records over the years.
In 2013, a G650 flew westbound around the world in 41 hours and 7 minutes,
also claiming 22 city-pair speed records during the trip.
In 2017, a G650ER also set five city-pair records in six days.
This included New York to Paris and Tokyo to New York.
Overall, these two aircraft have set 70 city-pair records.
“The continued popularity and demand for the G650
affirms its position as the leader in the ultra-long-range segment,” said Gulfstream president Mark Burns.
“The aircraft amassed an impressive backlog of orders when we announced it in 2008,
and that backlog is still strong today.”
The G650 once carried a five-year backlog,
and now, five years into service,
the model logged its second best quarter in terms of orders,
Gulfstream parent General Dynamics had reportered earlier this year.

The airliner will arrive at Fokker's facility in Woensdrecht in May 2019 for redelivery in early 2020.
The ACJ319neo will join K5's fleet of managed, high-end aircraft, which includes three current-generation ACJ319s – two completed by Fokker in 2008 and 2016, and a third outfitted by Airbus in 2012 – and a pair of long-range Bombardier Global Express/XRS business jets.
Global 7000 range boost could be final nail in Global 8000 coffin
During the Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE) Bombardier announced a 300nm range increase for its upcoming Global 7000 business jet. The new range of the Global 7000 means that it will be able to fly as far as 7,700nm, making a non-stop flight between New York and Hong Kong possible.
The range increase makes it the farthest-flying business jet, beating even the 7,500nm range of the Gulfstream G650ER.
It does however close the gap on Bombardier’s other long-range business jet currently in development, the Global 8000.
The Global 8000, which is planned to have a maximum range of 7,900nm, is smaller than the Global 7000 and also costs a few million dollars less.
Whilst Bombardier has been keen to update on the progress of the Global 7000, little has been said about the Global 8000. The official line has always been that the Global 8000 will be worked on once the Global 7000’s development is at a stage where resources can be diverted across without any impact on the 7000.
But with the Global 7000 range increase putting it just 200nm shy of the Global 8000’s, the business case for the latter starts to fade — especially on price, where the key selling point of the Global 8000 was the extra range.

The aircraft made the landing on the airstrip at the former RAF Woodbridge airfield in Suffolk, UK.
Although the PC-24 has already been certificated,
the unpaved landing is part of post-certification testing needed to certify the aircraft for rough-field landing.
“What a picture – the PC-24 in the toughest conditions, using an unpaved runway for the first time!” said Oscar J. Schwenk, chairman of Pilatus.
“This sort of mission would not be conceivable without the PC-24’s rugged landing gear, clever flap systems and special wing design.
The PC-24 was designed with exactly this sort of operation in mind – that’s Swiss engineering at its very best.”
Pilatus say that certification should be gained in the fourth quarter of 2018.
The original images releases when Pilatus unveiled the PC-24 showed the aircraft using a rough unpaved landing strip.
The aircraft has a large side-cargo door,
which makes it attractive for operators looking
to use the aircraft to ferry supplies or goods to remote locations.
To be able to land on unpaved strips,
the PC-24s undercarriage has been specially strengthened.
This includes low-pressure tyres as well as chines on the nose wheel.
A chine tyre is specially designed to deflect water and
any debris outwards and away from the aircraft on landing or take-off.
Pilatus has so far delivered five PC-24s to customers.
The company says it will deliver a total of 23 PC-24s in 2018.

Jetfly takes delivery of its first PC-24

Jetfly has taken delivery of its first of four Pliatus PC-24 business jets that it has on order.
Registered LX-PCA (MSN 111),
the PC-24 was officially handed over during a delivery ceremony on September 17.
The PC-24 joins 22 Pilatus PC-12 turboprops in the Jetfly fleet.
