Mid air collision over Denver, CO

Post by tally »

May 12th saw a SA-226 Swearingen (N280KL) and a Cirrus SR22 (N416DJ) collide near Denver, CO.

The SR22 pulled its emergency recovery chute and floated back to earth. But is substantially damaged.
The SA-226 made a emergency landing with a "gaping hole" (might be an understatement) in the upper fuselage aft of the wing at Centennial Airport.

Quite amazing that all occupants were able to tell the story.

Great the pilot could land the SA226 (looks a lot like the Aloha cabrio B737 some 30 years ago!)

Never knew the SR22 or any other aircraft had such a parachute system!

:worship: both pilots to keep their heads cool.
