Aeroflot Nord B737-500 Crash

Post by flying_kiwi »

An Aeroflot Nord Boeing 737-500 (reportedly the VP-BKO) has crashed while on approach to land in Perm, Russia. Aeroflot reports that there were no survivors among the 82 passengers and 6 crew onboard.
Although the aircraft crashed close to a built up area on the outskirts of the city, there were no casualties on the ground.
The black boxes are reported to have been recovered by investigators, who are already at the scene.
The last few months have been bad enough for the industry, and this of course doesn't help matters. I'd be interested to find out what the contributing factors were in this accident, as it fairly rare for an aircraft to crash early in an approach (the last contact with ATC had the plane at 3600ft).
News report from Yahoo can be found here.

Regards,
Yorden
