Syrian Mig 29 to Libya ?

Post by f4phantom »

Cooperation between the Syrian government and the Libyan National Army (LNA) of rebel marshal Jalifa Haftar is intensifying. According to a source not disclosed by Syrian journalist Nadia Abid, the Bachar al-Asad regime has agreed to send several units of Russian-made MIG-29 fighter jets to its North African ally. The information has been confirmed by analyst José Luis Mansilla (@Sahel_Intel).

Why would Syria give up an asset like the '29 in the middle of a war? It's not like they no longer have a need for it. Or do they figure that the Russian air force will do all of their "work" for them???

Sounds like very fake news. MiG-29's have insufficient range to make it to Libya without stopovers in hostile areas. They would have to be shipped in secret, along with the personnel and material that is needed to support them.
