Dallas AASF to Relocate to Fort Worth

Post by sdamico »

8? 12? x CH-47F of B/2-149AVN(HH)/TX-ARNG based at Redmond Taylor Army Heliport (TX18) on the SW side of former NAS Dallas/Hensley Field would relocate under plan to the NE end of NASJRB Fort Worth (NFW). This is the last unit at the former air station to relocate to NFW, a process that began in the 1990s. Note that this unit is NOT currently based at Grand Prairie Muni AP
(GPM) as per the Scramble USAr-Central CONUS OrBat.

Correct. A process that has been ongoing for over a year. The C47F's from the TX NG have made several low approaches to scope out their new home recently. The TWR controllers always seem so confused when they call in: "what are you and where are you coming from?"

NAS Dallas is also located in the city of Grand Prairie so understand the confusion. But indeed a separate airfield all together. Grand Prairie MAP is however home to where the US Army Lakota's are build.

Unless they just now fixed it it does state home base is Dallas/Redmond Taylor AHP (TX) with a link to google maps that points to the correct address. Currently they only have four CH-47F's as far as I know.

These four match the Scramble database.
