Russia tests stealth fighter jet

A new stealth fighter has made its maiden flight in Russia's far east.
The Sukhoi T-50 jet spent 47 minutes in the air over Komsomolsk-on-Amur and test pilot Sergei Bogdan said "it is easy and comfortable to pilot".
The jet - also known by the Russian designation PAK FA - is seen as a potential rival to the US F-22 Raptor, which first flew in 1997.
The "fifth generation" jet is designed to be invisible to radar. Russia's air force hopes to acquire it in 2015.

I'd say... skip JSF's, get some of these poor men's Flankers...uhm Raptors... uhm Flaptor :roll: ?

Wow, that is one very cool jet! Indeed it looks a bit like a YF-23 with air intakes underneath the wings.

That is one ugly jet. It even beats the F-22A in that respect. Ah, well, it flies, and thus interesting. Le Bourget 2011?

Nice plane, I also liked the S37 Berkut. A modern design, yet still impressive due to some "old-fashioned" features (typical Russian/Sukhoi nose and canopy, heavy landing gear, somewhat classic tail design, double square dragchute). Most modern designs are in my view a bit boring or just downright ugly, although it's all a matter of taste of course, as is clear from The Ugliest Plane topic on this same message-board. But the Russians have proven to me to be the exception again, together with France, when it comes to designing airplanes (although I have to admit I am not so keen on the Sukhoi Superjet either).

Is this to go into production or another study like the S-37?
Rome has Bufalotta, Arizona has alotta BUFF..

It says:
A total of 500 aircraft are planned with option for further aircrafts. The Russian Air Force will have 200 single seated and 50 twin-seated PAK FAs while the Indian Air Force will get 200 twin-seated and 50 single-seated FGFAs

Well, it's a T-model. Just like the YF-22 versus F-22 there might still be some significant changes.

That's probably not a good idea. Sukhoi's usually crash during airshows. And I think this Raptorski will be no exception. :twisted:

Why does everyone seem to find the F22 ugly? I think it's a beaut! This one's ugly... Looks like the YF-23 indeed.
