Ronneby is pretty easy from the civil terminal. From there you have a pretty decent view across the field. Also there must be some options on the north west end of the runway, but I haven't been there myself.

However... August usually is a holiday month in Sweden. Little to no activity at all at military bases. I once spent a full week in Sweden seeing just one military plane fly... Perhaps others have a better idea of exact dates between which activity is low.

Ronneby. Both sides are good for photography. I haven't been there in August but June ...

RWY01 only approach. Morning near the civil terminal, afternoon other side. 56°15'15.16"N 15°15'41.59"E

And RWY 19 only in the (late)afternoon. Here it is possible to picture Saabs nicely turning onto the runway. 56°16'39.46"N 15°15'57.48"E

Good Luck, rgds, Carl.

Hello guys
Normally is the Swedish holiday month july since several years, but have change a little.
I live north of Såtenäs, one other Swedish base.
The flying activities depends of how the base priority different activities over the year.
Some periods are it very busy over the year, other lower.
Look at the air bases home sides could be one source, one other is the air force home side.
One base of three must have the QRA activity at all time, at least during day time.
Try also to find a chat place. Some of the people inside the fence like to chat.

Visited Såtenäs the last two years while on winter holiday, once in January and once in March. Besides the Gripens you can expect some movements from the based C130's.
Såtenäs is situated next to a big lake, so that leaves only the south and east side to explore.
There's a road on the south side of the airfield from where you have a clear but distant view on the airfield [58.412760, 12.704478].
From here you can photograph the takeoff's from RWY19. Should be good for landing traffic at RWY01 as well, but during my visits only RWY19 was in use for landing, could be that this is the preferred RWY.
On the east side the Tunvägen road gives a clear view on RWY29, you can park your car at the carpark of the prehistoric gravehill just NE of the runway [58.428347, 12.731301].
From here it's possible to photograph the C130's taxying to their ramp on the east side of the airbase.

Don't forget the Gripen near the base entrance / F7 museum [58.435897, 12.722565], and the Viggen at the Viggen Rastplats next to road 44 near Grastorp [58.354925, 12.677815].

Cheers,
Marco

Imagery on Google Earth of august 2015 shows big white crosses on the RWY 01-19 indicating its not used anymore. So only RWY 11-29 remains?.

Must haven been temporarily, maybe for maintenance. Visited Såtenäs last March and RWY19 was used as main runway then (with 2 Gripens departing from RWY11 and 1 C130 performing a practice approach at RWY29).
