These are quite nice, and I know there are a lot. However, they are not photos but screenshots. Topic moved therefore!

Greetz Daniël.

To design a flying machine is nothing. To build one is something. But to fly is everything.

*cry*

The exact name of the company i do not know.

But when you go to Tyndal, and you pass the base on youre left, you`ll see a dirt road.

If you take that, then take the 1st big road on the right you`ll see a big shelter looking building.

Right outside that building is a small runway that they use to test the drones before using them to be shot down (the deathrow lineup in Tyndal itself is the place where planes go to be shot down)

I dont really know if they make the changes to the planes at that company (i think Tracor used to do that), but they do store them there, and keep them in flying condition before being shot down

Tonight when i get home i`l upload a video i made there in `93 when they were testing a F-106..

Thats the last parking spot of Drones, after this spot they only take off one more time (if the attacking pilots dont miss :P)

Can you specify (just edit your previous post) more info about this location? What do we see? What is the current situation? Planes? Numbers? Regs?

Thanks

C-5 crashsite Ramstein on Google Maps

Post by Stephan Lodewijks »

Just like to share:

Although the current sattelite picture of Ramstein published on Google Maps is already a few years old, and thus far from accurate these days, the landscape still shows the scars of a big C-5 Galaxy crashing during take-off on august 29th 1990; this was roughly 15 years before the picture was taken...! C-5A 68-0228 was lost shortly after taking off from runway 27, first hitting trees and then hitting the ground:

Image

The red line represents the length of the area which shows the scarring. The blue line roughly represents the width of the C-5. The aircraft came from the right, clipping trees where the red line starts, then hitting the ground and ending in rubbles at the left-end of the red line. I've seen the area first-hand a couple of times when runway 09 was in use, always being amazed by the sight of the clipped trees and the little pool of water at the end...

The whole area has changed since the construction of the new runway, so the whole thing is erazed these days.

Best regards,

Stephan

Hey guys,

Chech out Orenburg in Russia. You can see a strip south west of the town stuffed with Il-76's and An-12's. Looks like an operational airforce field. Don't know if it is still operational though.

About 25 km east of the town is the airport with neatly lined AN-2's and about 20 km NNE of the airport is another military strip. This one doesn't seem to being used much, some helo's but stufffed to the brink with Floggers and also Fencers but that's harder to see.

I once heard that the Floggers in the former East Germany from went to a storagefield near Orenburg. Seems they are still present there and probably haven't done much after arrival.

Cheers guys,

Wow
All those jets! And the field looks completely open, so all will be visible from outside probably......
What a waste!

More photos of the Russian Davis Monthan at Orenburg are here:

Many of the 'West Gruppe' MiGs and Sukhois flew to this base. There are photos of some familiar Fitters!
