Unless Uncle Sam and their buddies, wanna see some great balls of fire in their own front and/or backyard 'again', they better stay out of this.

Well... looking at all these posts / information.
I must say, it seems a big ( censored ).... If libya didn't have oil etc, would "we" have acted the same ? Apparently, country's that have interesting goods for the western world, see fast action.
But what about the other country's, on the same continent, where there is civil war ....

These actions will place even more pressure on defense organisations. Organisations that have been hit hard due to budget cuts. And what more cuts will be made after these mil.actions ?

Let the arabian world ( Quatar, Saudia etc. ) leed this war, why always the west...

Hopefully there won't be to much "partycrashers" for the upcoming exercises and airshows.
and yes ( ) i'm aware of the spotters down under, that can see some nice hardware....

The best to all involved.

Not to make a bigg fuss, but don 't you think this is going a bit far yourself?
If there 's anyone knowing these and willing to share I think we will see the serials here...

Since this is info about ongoing live operations one would think people are a bit carefull so no need to ask IMHO.

Well to my honest opinion, asking IF they can confirm the serials. Doesn't need to be the same as asking them to give these serials.
A simple yes or no could be enough. However i see you point.

I think we need to be aware, when placing info on the web, that others can use this for other goals. Not being aircraft-spotting....

But if we are lucky, it will all end very fast !

At the risk of starting a debate here, no, I don't think it is asking too much! If you read some of the reports on the web (and in particular, this website) what I have asked is nothing to do with ongoing operations. Sky have already shown pictures of the F16s sitting on the ramp at Souda; it has been announced in the press how many aircraft have been deployed therefore the tail numbers are irrelevant, aside from the fact that it will help the spotters decide where they want to go to see what aircraft.

Just to be clear, I am in the military and therefore know what are acceptable questions during ongoing operations and what are not.

There's always a reason for everything, and most commonly it's one's own interest that is the reason for doing something. But what is your point? I guess in this case it may not be the oil that makes this mess an important one, but the fact that it happens in our back garden and could cause effect on our own surroundings. The civil war in other parts of the world effect us less, and therefore there's not so much urge to get into action.

If we don't take these actions, that would be the perfect reason to cut back even more. Why keep a military if we ain't gonna use it anyway?
K-9 wrote:Let the arabian world ( Quatar, Saudia etc. ) leed this war, why always the west...
1. Because they could get into some loyalty conflict more easily then we do.
2. Because they've got trouble enough of themselves nowadays.
K-9 wrote:Hopefully there won't be to much "partycrashers" for the upcoming exercises and airshows.
Now we're getting there... and who was complaining about one's own interest? This seems to be the least of the worlds problems (even though I too want to see as many planes as possible on an airshow, but operational requirements are the best reason for an air force not to show up).
K-9 wrote:and yes ( ) i'm aware of the spotters down under, that can see some nice hardware....
And exactly why do think Australian spotters will see any more planes then they're used to?? I don't get that one.

Why always the West? because we need the oil. Simple as that.

Oh and fighter aircraft are for fighting wars and not for airshows.

No way that the Dutch will ever fly any aircraft over Syria, Iran or whatever.... they only come when the damage is done by Uncle Sam. It's unbelievable that despite the large defence cuts and economic situation we have to get our tax-money is spent at something like this. Libya is not our problem, not the problem of US... it's the problem of Libya... and perhaps that of the other Islamic States.

You must have some  US blood in your vains..... Then they (US) should directly attack Bahrain, Jemen and Saudi Arabia to help those people who wanna live in a democracy..... but.... no way. Where was Obama when many people were shot during demonstrations in Syria? Or Jemen?

Fighter aircraft are indeed for War, but not to force a Government from another country to withdraw.... or to bomb them because they do things that you don't like. If the US has real guts, they attack tomorrow Iran, Syria and North Correa

And those British.... they are true Imperial mierda.

Libya provides just two percent of the worlds oil. So yes! Let's start a war over it! :? That'll be quite something when oil gets even more scarce.

Ridiculous argument.... Guns are for violence, so let's use them?

I myself am amazed be the way country after country gets involved, no questions asked - especially about the uncertain outcome of this 'conflict'. If, as said yesterday, other Arabic forces will join this so called coalition, now that's a hotspot right there.

And 'we' getting involved; yes, let's have budget cuts on education, health care, culture & art and just about everything else, and then spend 20 million euro over this. Amazing.......
Answers will be questioned.....

HEREs a nice 'background' article (Waarom Libië?) in Dutch.

I'm wondering if they would interfere in Syria, Yemen or Saudi Arabia also.

Americans live on short term perception, God's will, on credit and quicksand etc.
if you don't follow Uncle Sams mind, you'll be 'sooner or later' punished or eleminated.

They already demolished Iraq with 'their' Uranium projectiles, started a not winnable war in Afghanistan and now in Libya.
Mr. Obama II 'deliberately' forgot or didn't asked the congress for permission (Libya), so Mr. Barack Hussein Obama II is a dictator himself.

Don't worry be happy, within one or max. two decades, oil will be paid in Middle East currency and China have eaten up America's leading world power
Side effect: The Israelian lobby became less powerfull and the Palestinians might finally reclaim their 'occupied' land.

Anyway, I'm proud to be non-American ;)

BTW Democracy is the dictation of the majority we voted for.
Worldwide, Switzerland is the only country who really :respect: democracy.

This is a very smart remark. Israel is protected by the US because they own the US Dollar (Jewish bankers do). So what about Isreal (and the 'peace and stability' in de Middle East) when the US looses influence? In this respect it is interesting to have seen the BRIC countries didn't vote, but also didn't veto (R/C at least) India is already complaining about the level of military force.

to be continued...

The OPEC wanna be paid in their own 'futured' currency also.

Bye, bye USD ;)

Note: the current United States public debt is around $14.19 trillion and 'still' growing.
You don't have to be a bookkeeper, to calculate the 'personal' ..... ($ 40.000 plus each).

No what I meant was; to think that the current actions over Lybia might endanger the appearances at airshows this season is getting your priorities wrong. Governments don't buy fighterplanes only to look cool and attend airshows. There primary function is to be used as a weapon in times of war. It's a hard truth.
Libya provides just two percent of the worlds oil. So yes! Let's start a war over it! That'll be quite something when oil gets even more scarce.
To say that only 2% of the oil comes from Lybia and therefor we don't need it would be naieve. Libya is a very attractive oil area because the costs of production are/were low. Sometimes $1 per barrel. And because it is very close to Europe the transportation costs are very low. So it may not be much, but it is cheap oil.
If the US has real guts, they attack tomorrow Iran, Syria and North Correa
Why would they? There is nothing there for them. You never start a war unless you can get something out of it. Only George W. Bush never got that memo.

People who think that the West is really there to protect Lybian civilians should unscrew their head and get back to reality. :?
