Yes, it was mentioned, but not more than that.
This deserves a special topic. Many aviation sites around the world are buzzing about the stealth helicopter.

Like here:

And here:

What do you guys think of this? Is it a new type of helicopter or a Blackhawk in stealth mode?

As I remember Did a company introduce a stealth helicopter 5-6 years ago with square shapes like this? (And wasn't purchased by the USAF...)

Except for the fact that is doesn't have a fenstrom rotor... which makes it completely different...
Also the tail does not look like any ordinary Blackhawk. Apart from the obvious rotor design, also the large bulge behind the horizontal stabilizer is not something normal Blackhawks have, as well as the large bulge the rotor itself is attached to.

The other part of the chopper came down on the other side of the wall and was blown up by the soldiers.

Communis opinio on the websites mentioned by Slijfie now seems to be that the helo is (or rather, WAS) a heavily modified, stealthy version of the Blackhawk or -possibly- the Sikorsky S.92. Anyway, it definitely was a helo that the US military would have loved to have been kept secret just a bit more...

I read something about a new version of the Blackhawk, called the Silent Hawk concept. Maybe this is / was a Silent Hawk?

Was this stealth design already rumored before the operation?

topgun1984! :worship: 10 points. (the second silent hawk drawings) the other options mentioned above are way off, but this one fits the bill.

Was it fully operational, still a test phase, a XCH-60 or YCH-60? Guess time will tell.

Indeed a bit painful (utter embaressment if you will) that they lost it in a foreign country,
(way worse than an ancient RNLN lynx recently in Lybia).
Brings back memories of a painful failure in an action some time ago in Persia / Iran and also of the time when they left a downed secret stealth F-117 'Sitting Night Duck' for the opponents in Yugo-land.
