Liege Bierset

Post by nry50 »

Hi there,

AI am thinking of visiting Liege in May, and would like to know if it is possible to get to the airport from the centre of Liege by public transport. I have looked at the airport website and can only find directions by car. Would like to go one of the heli days which I believe is on the 12th May. Will be arriving by train from Cologne. Any help would be most appreciated.

Best regards,

Neil. :)

Getting to the military part over the weekend is not particularly easy, unfortunately.

As with other shows, I did my best to compile instructions on our website here. This is the way I go so I assure you this is feasible. ;)
By public transport

The trainstation Bierset-Awans is about 2 kilometres away from the entrance to the base. From the station, take Avenue de la Gare and at the end, turn left at Chaussée de Hannut. This road will lead you to the entrance.
At Place Saint-Lambert in the city of Liège, you can also take bus 85 in the direction of Huy around 12:30 and get off at the stop 'Bierset Aérodrome', close the entrance to the base. Be aware however that there are only very few buses running during weekends and that the number of buses going back to Liège is limited to a bus at 16:23 or one at 18:16. The closest trainstation to Place Saint-Lambert is Liège Palais.

Expected to depart on sunday 22/4:

NRN551 SH-14D Marhel, ETD 14:00LT (back to EHKD)

The Lynx is conducting a navigation trip. On friday they flew to Spangdahlem, ATA 11:54LT. That afternoon it departed to Paris-issy-les-moulineaux where they stayed overnight. Don't know when the Lynx arrived at Luik/Bierset.

Hi,

After visiting Brussels in the morning (log covered by log at http://www.luchtzak.be" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), we made a stop at LGG, where the following was noted. If someone can fill in the gasp, it would be very welcome.

With regards to the OO-TAT, we only read AT above the cockpit. Cannot find anything on the internet on OO-TAT. Is this a misread, or a recent delivery? Any info is welcome. If someone could fill in the questionmarks, please do so.
