Good evening,

A combination trip to catch aircaft and some old diesel & steam trains
in the "Ardennes' last sunday, provided for the high altitude flying part of the day
the following small log:

Dinant/Citadel
EG162 / K-5K Gloster Meteor F8
the Meteor is still preserved on a pole near the citadel reataurant, high above the village.
At the right bank of the river "Maas/Meuse" follow signs heading for the Citadel. This leads you
uo to the plateau and restaurant right behind the citadel. From the parking place the Meteor can by seen easily, without paying the €7,00 admission to enjoy fortifications & panoramic views.........

Vodelée/Carrière de Vodelée
Nord N1203 Norécrin II OO-TRI used to be stored at the parking place of this diving club, but it turned out to be scrapped.........

Franchimont/Carrière de Rochefontaine
F-84F Thunderstreak FU82/082 should be stored around here. Unfortunately we arrived
around 09.15hr, and the diving club should open their gates at 10. Too long to wait for....

Neuville/Toyota Pacquet
613 MiG-15UTI
This camouflaged ex PWL MiG is still stored left of the old Toyota Pacquet building.
Looking at it's sorry state scrapping can be expected.

Cerfontaine
This rather new airfield (opened a few years ago) provided some nice catches:
D-FLOC Cessna 208B Grand Caravan
F-CEEL LCA11 Topaze (license built Scheibe SF27)
N760SH Aero Experimental Diamand DA20
OO-LFM Piper PA.18-150 Super Cub ex F-MAFI/182543, 52-6225
OO-YFR / PL67 Schleicher ASK13
OO-ZOM / PL58 Schleicher Ka8B
Both ex Luchtkadetten gliders were still in full BLU livery, and they (including the ex mil PA18)
used to be based at nearby Froidchappelle. It looks like the better facilities at Cerfontaine
atracted some new inhabitants !
Beside the mentioned a few more were noted, and one large hangar turned out to be spotter proof.......

Matagne la Petite
Some 10 ultralights were noted around here. Catch of the day was definitely:
59-ACH Renegade Spirit
This nice homebuild bi-plane was in a beautifull yellow-blue colour scheme.

Liège-Bierset
G-LOFB Lockheed L-188C(F) Electra
Beside the well-known stuff an Electra (although seen many times before) can nowadays be considered as a real highlight !

regards,
The aircraft & trainspotting team
