Emsland kurier: "Meppen (eb) – An der Wehrtechnischen Dienststelle für Waffen und Munition (WTD 91) in Meppen findet vom 28. 7. (Fr.) bis zum 18. 8. (Fr.) eine Untersuchung zur Avionikausrüstung fliegender Waffensysteme statt, bei der es zu vermehrten Flugbewegungen über dem Gelände der WTD 91 kommt.

Die Avionik ist laut Wikipedia ein Begriff aus der Luft- und Raumfahrttechnik und bezeichnet die Gesamtheit der elektrischen und elektronischen Geräte an Bord eines Fluggerätes, einschließlich der Fluginstrumente.

Die Flugversuche finden montags bis donnerstags von 8 bis 17 Uhr sowie freitags von 8 bis 13 Uhr statt. Ein Nacht- und Wochenendflugbetrieb ist nicht geplant. An der Untersuchung nehmen Hubschrauber, Transportflugzeuge und Strahlflugzeuge aus unterschiedlichen Nationen teil, teilweise auch große Transport- und Passagierflugzeuge.

Für die Versuche müssen die Luftfahrzeuge im Tiefflug oberhalb 300 Meter Höhe das Gelände der WTD 91 überfliegen. Hierbei fliegen alle Luftfahrzeuge auf vorgegebenen Profilen, die durch geschultes Personal und durch Radar überwacht werden.

Die Wehrtechnische Dienststelle weist daraufhin, dass die großen Flugzeuge bereits frühzeitig ihren Sinkflug beginnen müssen, so dass es auch im weiteren Umfeld der Dienststelle in Meppen zu ungewöhnlich tief fliegenden Flugzeugen kommen kann. Insbesondere sind hier die Gemeinden und Ortschaften südlich der WTD 91 betroffen, heißt es abschließend in der Mitteilung."

2 exercize weeks at meppen range! Maybe the helicopters will land at the heliport?

Embow XVI is taking place from the 28th of July.
See Nörvenich topic ( http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php?p=874505#p874505) for the Turkish participation (1st week only??) 3x F16, 1x CN235 Turkish Navy?
Finland seems to sent 2 F18's to Leeuwarden, as far as i can translate from http://ilmavoimat.fi/artikkeli/-/asset_ ... sa-7-11-8- these are from the 7th till the 11th of August, so during the 2nd week.
Other info : There will be a total of 20 different types of aircraft from 14 different countries. In addition to Finland, Nordic, Sweden, Norway and Denmark participate in the Nordic exercise.

Cn235 TCB653 now over Rheine descending into Meppen i think for the 1st mission.

at the range today one F16 or tornado (i could not see it good) and the CN235. nothing at the airfield

Is it possible that this weekend there are Helo's at meppen airfield, and is it allowed to spot there?. and where...

Does anybody know what the spotting conditions are around the meppen range and where the best spots are to film and/or photograph flying aircraft using the range?

Between meppen and Huntel you can find good spots and around Stavern. For the helicopters you can go to the airfield

Yes it is possible. You can spot at the airfield, but you cant stop with your car at the road.

Only stop if there is a helicopter on the platform.
Make a hit and run action....don't hang around the fence...

At 52.770945, 7.384769 you can park your car at the road that leads to the south east...(away from the range)
From that place you have a nice look at the range, sun in your back...
