Reconquista open day 1996

Post by dick loh vervallen »

A small open day was held at this Northern Argentinian base on 19 October 1996. This base, home to the III Brigada Aérea houses 2 squadrons in the Grupo Aéreo 3 de Ataque which operates the indigenous FMA IA-58A Pucara. IA-58A A-584 had a kill mark painted under the cockpit for the downing of a British Army Air Corps Scout. Like every Argentinian Air Force base the base flight (Escuadrón Convencionales) consist out a RC500U and a Ce A182.

Reconquista open day 1996

Post by dick loh vervallen »

As it is quite a long drive from Buenos Aires to Reconquista I was fortunate enough to get a lift on board C-130B TC-60. It was (and still is) hard to spot the serials of most aircraft as they only painted the last two digits on the nose wheel door. Two MS-760 Paris on the static, this E-224 (and E-244) plus Mirage IIIEA I-008 were proof for that. Later that day Canberra B.62 B-109 arrived which was even worse as it serial was painted at the inside of the nose wheel door.

And they were not the only Canberra-operator in Latin America either! ;-)

Super pics! The Paris is a beauty, and I always love Mirages!
